I only recently got to watch Tom Ford’s brilliant A Single Man that came out last year and received much adoration. It’s a visual feast, which is no surprise considering Ford’s aesthetic aptitude. This, coupled with the help of Mad Men set designer Amy Well’s efforts, created a perfectly 60’s set that embodied mid-century modern with precision.
I won’t divulge the plot details because it’s worth seeing yourself, but I will say that my favorite scenes took place at Charlie’s house, the character played by Julianne Moore. Below is her bedroom, with the over-sized Ikat headboard and her dressing table that features what looks like a white mohair lounge chair. Amazing!
In Charlie’s living room a rounded sectional takes center stage while George, played by Collin Firth, lights up her cigarette. Later, they end up on the floor atop her shag carpet.
