At the Theatre: The Beaux Stratagem

My husband and I went to see The Beaux Stratagem on Friday night, put on by the Department of Drama at UVA. This comedy was written by George Farquhar and adapted by Thornton Wilder and Ken Ludwig. It is a Restoration-era take on love, marriage, the battle of the sexes, and aristocratic ennui. The actors were wonderful and the story, entertaining. The production is running through February 26th at the Culbreth Theatre and I would highly recommend it. UVA has a fantastic Drama department and I have always been impressed by the shows I have seen there; you can see their current schedule here.

I love these illustrations!! Especially the one of Mrs. Sullen in her fabulous green dress . . . makes me want to illustrate my outfits.
