There are all these free, glossy magazines in the Hamptons that you can pick up at the various boutiques, all of which I’m pretty sure are published only in the summer. A new one that just came out called Plum Hamptons showcased the interiors of Andy and Kate Spade’s house, as well as Beth DeWoody’s space, both located in Southampton. The houses are located in what was once known as the Art Village, where struggling artists took up residence for the summer to paint. The spirit of this philosophy lives on in these homes that are full of an ultra-eclectic collection of works bundled together. You can read the full article here. I’m so inspired by the mix of high/low pieces (one of Andy Spade’s paintings was done by a first grader and found at a thrift store) and intend to carry out this type of mixing as we continue to collect art as a family.
